Lebob is an independent, not-for-profit robotics team based in Perth, Western Australia. We compete internationally in FIRST Tech Challenge as team 29550 and in FIRST LEGO League as team 3236. We build competition robots and research soft-robotic grippers, and we publish the working notes so other teams can pick up where we left off.
We are not a school team. Most of us attend Perth Modern School, but the school does not run or fund us. We started Lebob ourselves and run it under Lebob Robotics, an unincorporated not-for-profit association with its own ABN. We enter our own competitions and raise our own sponsorship. We work out of one shared workshop. We take an idea as far as a prototype we can put in front of a judge, then write up what it took to get there.
We are building for the 2026–27 FIRST Tech Challenge BIOBUZZ season. Before that we competed in the FLL Unearthed season and built SoftSense, our innovation project: a soft gripper for ROV manipulation. It won a prize at the 2026 Korea Open, and the full engineering record is public on GitHub.

Spike Prime build with custom attachments tuned to the 2025/26 Unearthed game. Modular mounts, a calibrated drive base, and autonomous mission programs that hold their scores on a competition table.
Our self-sensing soft gripper for ROV manipulation, prize winner at the 2026 Korea Open. Fin Ray TPU fingers, a flooded gear drive, and grip force read from the motor's current. The CAD, FEA, firmware and docs are all public.
